Prompt: An unexpected visitor stalks the halls of Hogwarts. Neville investigates.

The crash-bang made Neville jump. Awake at 3 a.m. he was alone on the stairs outside the Common Room.

He hadn’t slept since the Headmaster had been killed. By Snape. Vindication, fear and anger roiled in his mind.

The noise drew him cautiously down the corridor. Were Deatheaters again roaming the halls, he would stop them. Or yell, or weep.

Snape was gliding silently towards him. The black robes billowed, his eyes stared malevolently...

"R-r-riddikulus!"

He fled before it stopped looking astonished, the vulture atop Snape’s hat bobbing ludicrously.

Before it had a chance to notice that he wasn’t laughing.
