I figure John's still in that first flush of "Hey, awesome" about being together, and it's not until maybe six months in that he stops to think, "Should I be doing something to make this work?" And then he realizes that they're already doing everything they need to, and he goes back to not worrying about it. :-) I'm glad you liked it!
