I know I've been terrible about reading lately, but I've missed your stories so much and this did not disappoint. Rodney's note made my heart swell, I can just imaging how John felt. I love that you wrote Ford and that all this emotion was there between the boys early on. It's the way I've always seen it.

Ford was just always so cheerful and I can imagine him mentioning this kind of thing on a mission (talking about his grandparents and that sort of thing). The feeling when I wrote this as compared to the sequel was definitely different, because I believe John's feelings have changes significantly as well as the level of familiarity and intimacy in their relationship, but even back then they've played the game together and had this boyish fun which could see e.g. in Hide and Seek and I firmly believe it was something that both of them valued highly even then.

Yes, John is just not very good at this, even if he-sort of-wants to express his feelings. Rodney on the other hand I believe can master this much better, especially given time to think about it.
