Yes. I saw that line and I knew that I couldn't just go on in the next sentence, because it would rob that line of all its power.

It still might have been better not to continue at all, but I couldn't not have them end up together. It wouldn't have been right.

kids???????? rodney & jennifer's i take it? definately liked the epilogue, loved the original story too, even with that ending (which seems much more likely than john ever getting his act together to me.)

Yes, Rodney and Jennifer's. And actually I think John didn't really get his act together.

I imagine Rodney getting a divorce and John visiting him on Earth on his next leave and for Rodney to realize that this thing with John that he suspected exists, really is there after all and that he'll just have to make John see that it's possible (now that they're no longer teammates and DADT is gone). And even though it is possible I can see John struggling to accept it because by then he's so used to not being able to have what he wants that it's hard to let go of that.

I might be entirely too fond of Pinig!John for my own good ;)

And working for the SGC, still having things to fly (even if it isn't a city anymore), visit alien worlds ... that's a wonderful job, too. And if it means he's able to live with Rodney, I think it's the better choice.

I wasn't sure how the second part fit into the theme of sacrifice, because it could be seen as a sacrifice of a different kind. Though I don't really think it is for John. It's his choice and one that will make him happy.
