Kidding aside, one of the things that I love about John and Rodney is that they are so universal. You can put them in any genre (action adventure, romantic comedy, drama, horror, scifi, historical, fantasy) and write about them in that setting.
So almost anything I watch, I think could make a good John/Rodney story. To name one, I do love National Treasure and I think John would make a great Ben, obsessing about his family's legacy, and Rodney as Abigail, jumping in to the adventure (though, now that I think about it, the other way round could work too ;).
When it comes down to it though, I don't like re-writes so much as taking a setting/idea and then seeing how John and Rodney (and the others) do in that setting. Although of course, it depends on the source (and what you consider a re-write).
