Interview: valderys

How long have you been creating fan art or writing fan fiction? Gosh. Quite a while? :) I was still at school, and I wrote Blake's 7 and The Professionals. Some of my B7 fic was published in a real live zine, and I was so proud. My Pros stuff never saw the light of day, and I think that's just as well! That's 26 years, dear god.

What drew you into fandom in the first place? Blake's 7 - basically snarling Avon in his black leather hit me at my most hormonal, my beginning teens - and I've never looked back really, although there were a few years in my late teens/early twenties when university and such took precedence.

Best thing about SGA fandom: go! The quality of writing, I think. There's been such consistantly good quality across the board, that I hadn't really realised how bad it was in some other fandoms. And the crack too! That's always fun.

Are you a fandom monogamist or do you participate in other fandoms? Which ones? It's funny. Back at the beginning I was a complete B7 monogamist, really, for about ten years, apart from that flirtation with Pros, but I've been gaining more and more fandoms these days, like a stone gathering moss, (since I never leave a fandom behind), and I think it's the internet's fault! It's so easy to dabble these days, and there's so much more, and it's so accessible now... It's wonderful, mind you, I love it! My main fandom's in date order are: Blake's 7, Babylon 5, Lord of the Rings, SGA, Torchwood and Merlin, but there's been loads of flirtations too!

Best thing about McKay/Sheppard: go! It's still a comfort pairing for me - even though I'm mostly writing for other fandom's these days, if I need a bit of cheering up, or whatever, I'll look up some McShep.

Why did you decide to participate in McShep Match? I wasn't going to, I must admit, since I'm mostly writing elsewhere, but then Team Play had a couple of vacancies, and my fingers were itching, and I just sort of signed up again... :)

And how did you choose Team Work/Play? See above, really.

Best thing about your contribution to this year's Match: go! (Remember to keep your answer vague, please!) Hee. Last year's McShep Match fic came with difficulty, it was like pulling teeth, and I didn't enjoy it much. This year's fic has come really easily, just flowing, and I've really enjoyed it. It's always fantastic when that happens!

Where can interested readers/viewers find more of your work? Some of my RPS is off on a different journal, but it's all linked to the master-post on my main lj. At some point it will be up on AO3 too, but I haven't finished uploading yet. There's also all my B7 fic that is only in paper copy form in zines - I'm still debating with myself whether I can be bothered to type it all up. Or indeed, whether I even should!

A word to our sponsors? My mate, Marmite!
