Oh, oh. This was just marvelous. John would absolutely be broken in that way if he had to leave like this. You perfectly captured his, "if I don't think about it, it doesn't exist," method of coping with emotions. And he bought a house for his team. I was going to quote sections that I particularly loved, but I started to lose track after the fourth or fifth. I'm so happy that you gave them a happy ending, but a reasonably realistic one, not an antidote so John could go back, but a way to bring as much as possible of Atlantis to him (Ronon & Teyla coming to visit!). Just lovely and wonderfully done.

I love happy endings, though this may have been the first thing I ever wrote where I knew how it was going to end happily before I started it.
