McShep Match: the Pre-Season Friendly
Welcome to mcshep_match!
So, what's this all about?
Two teams of writers, from this point on known as Team Angst and Team Romance, will be indulging in a bit of friendly competition - much like our favourite characters have been known to do.
Hopefully we won't start any real wars or take out any solar systems along the way, but hey. Sometimes these things happen. *g*
The Teams
Team Angst - Mod: trobadora, Team Captain: trinityofone
Team Romance - Mod: fluffyllama, Team Captain: lamardeuse
The Basics
Each writer who signs up will choose a team to join - Team Angst or Team Romance. Make sure you choose the one that you think best suits either your usual writing style or the one you'd like to write for the fest.
The teams will consist of max. 25 people - the Team Captain plus an equal number of participants (up to a maximum of 24) in order of sign-up. You can ask a friend to sign up for you, but 1. each participant can only sign up one other person apart from themselves, and 2. each sign-up must be in a separate comment. Even if the teams fill up to their maximum it will be worth signing up - if there are dropouts we will be looking for reserves to step in and join the team at a later date.
The same 25 prompts will be allocated to each team, one per writer. Although each writer will work on their own story they will have the support of their team and the mods for ideas, betaing etc. on the private team communities: mcshep_angst and mcshep_romance.
The minimum word count is 1000 words; there is no maximum.
After the deadline, the two stories produced for each prompt will be posted together anonymously on each day of the 25 posting days. Readers will be asked to vote for the stories on the following criteria: how well it fits the genre (angst or romance) and the prompt, and how much they enjoyed the story. Results are hidden from everyone but the moderators.
Teams are of course encouraged to pimp, plug, bribe and blackmail their friends into voting for their side!
When all stories have been posted the scores will be worked out and one team will be declared the mcshep_match champions! Fear not though, all participants (both teams) will receive banners/icons/celebratory items of a similar nature to record their participation and team.

Prompts allocated by: Monday July 2nd Sunday June 24th
Deadline: Tuesday August 14th
Posting starts: Wednesday August 15th
