It doesn't seem fair to me that, should there be enough votes for them, a story should get the award for 2005 as well as another catagory.

I'm very happy with that idea. I'd go as far as saying no story should win in two categories.

I'm not sure why that's not fair. Why shouldn't a story win in more than one category if it's the best one in those categories? Best story and, say, best angst are two different things. Just because someone thinks a story is the best overall story doesn't mean they're going to think it's the best in another category, and if it is, good for the author. I did vote for one story in two categories because I thought it was the best at those two different things. To have voted for another story instead in one of those categories would have been lying, and my nose is already long enough :). I think categories should be considered individually, instead of the votes/winners being spread out among them.
