1. What was your first fandom?
Harry Potter. I'm an older fan so I went looking for other places to hang out than the main places because I felt sort of out of place. That's when I discovered LiveJournal and the zillions of other fandoms out there that I could create for. I've never left although I've morphed into a variety of different journals over the years.
2. How did you get into writing fanfic/creating fanart?
Writing fanfic is the reason I get into fandoms in the first place. If I can't create for them, I don't spend a lot of time hanging out and chatting about them. I like to create for the "shadows" of a book/TV show/movie... all those bits that aren't explicitly shown but are hinted at. When I started to notice those bits in the fandoms, that's when I fell in love with fanfic as a whole.
I started writing in RPGs and then moved to writing drabbles (100 - 500 words) and reveled in that type of writing for a couple of years. Then I segued into writing my own fiction but I always come back to fandom. I tried a big bang a couple of years ago and have now completed 2 out of the 5 I've attempted! Here's hoping I can finish the next one so that I have a 50% success rate!
While I still drabble from time to time, I now can't write less than 1000 word story. Details! They're demanding when they want to be in a story!
3. Is SGA your main squeeze, or are you poly-fandom-ous?
Poly, most definitely. I like to think that they all know about each other and don't mind that I'm not exclusive!
4. What makes John and Rodney such an inspiring couple for you?
I like that there is such a strong friendship between them, first and foremost. There's never going to be a pause between them when they're together. That and the constant threat of danger that is always hanging over them. Those two are magnets for trouble!
5. Who's your favorite, John or Rodney (or both)? How come?
I love them both! John is so put together... a man's man. He looks yummy in a flight suit and knows how to carry a gun. He's also got that smile that just melts your bones! But Rodney! If anyone else could use a word to describe something, he'd use twenty and not even bat an eye. He's funny in his own way and so very endearing. He's tried living life to the fullest but it just didn't work until John came along.
They complete each other!
6. Where can people find more of your work (McShep or otherwise)?
Pretty much every thing I write is at my
AO3 page. My original stuff is locked up but there isn't enough of that to make a difference.
7. Pick a piece/story of yours that stands out for you. Give us links and tell us why!
How about...
The Happiest Place On Earth (John/Rodney, Ronon/Amelia). I wrote this after a visit to Disneyland. While I was waiting for my sister and friend to finish riding California Screamin', I was people-watching and out of the blue I thought, "I wonder what Ronon would look like walking through this crowd of people." This is what came from that thought.
8. Finish this sentence: John and Rodney walk into a bar...
where everyone knows John on sight. His drink is waiting for him at his favorite table, a pretty redhead hovering over them as they sit down. With a smirk, Rodney waits to see what happens, his arms crossed over his chest. Sure enough, John indicates that the redhead needs to bend down so he can whisper in her ear and, when he's done, she narrows her eyes at Rodney before turning and walking stiffly away. His drink is is front of him within the next few minutes and the woman doesn't bother coming back. All in all, a successful date.
(Yeah, I told you I don't do well with short stories... single sentences are IMPOSSIBLE!)
9. What question do you wish we'd asked?
What kind of tree would you like to be if you could be a tree? What was the first car you owned? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
