An interview with Gerard Way and Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance on MTV News Canada. April 2011. Band talks reinvention, the spirit of Danger Days, no longer filling a role for fans, and battling pop stars.
That's serious one of the best things they've ever said, TBH. Along the lines of 'Don't put all your hopes in a band and center your lives around us, we'll just disappoint you." I dunno. It's a think more fans seem like they need to hear, really - to live for/depend on themselves.
A little loss of idealism is sad, but they seriously would have just killed themselves if they'd kept going the way they had been. D: TBP tour was proof enough of that.
I agree. I love Danger Days exactly because the message isn't "we're going to save you" but "you're strong enough to save yourself." To me, that's a really empowering message, and one that a lot of people need to hear.
Not to mention, you're totally right. They would have completely burned out permanently if they'd kept trying to save the world themselves. No person and no band can take on that responsibility and survive.
