I love how Sam woke Dean up nice and easy like that, it was so sweet. And the part about how Sam needs to be there for Dean really ties in well to what he says in the finale about how he can't leave his brother all alone.

This was heartbreaking and perfect. I love that Sam kept his word and didn't actually bring up Ben or Lisa.

Thank you for writing this out - utter, devastating heartbreak and all. That's, by far, exactly the kind of break-down I all but envisioned Dean undergo some few miles down the road from the hospital. He has to mourn Lisa and Ben - the nuclear family he dreamed up through the prospect of Hell and the Apocalypse, and cherished through the bleak times of grief, then - desperation, but wouldn't allow himself to keep, deeming himself unworthy and unable to protect. He has to mourn his own self - for he went ahead and 'killed' himself off in the one reality where solace and peace of heart were at least a wayward hypothetical possibility out there for him. I think you managed to pick up on those emotional considerations

Aw, man. Dean's grief and sickness are so clear here that they hurt, but I love Sam's quiet way of being there for him.
