IFComp08 Review: April in Paris
Holy cow, is this player character an asshole. It's funny how this kind of petty spite bothers me more than being a complete asshole like Varicella. In retrospect, it seems like this should have been an easier game than it was for me, but I kept trying to be civilized when I was supposed to be a jerk, and in the places where you are supposed to be more civilized I was instead looking for ways to be unleash subterfuge and otherwise be petty and evil.
So I don't really know if this says more about me or about the puzzle design. The rest of the game fairly well written and constructed; I wasn't able to get any absurd replies, and it was pretty smooth about handling motion - it wasn't really a one-room game, but it honestly might as well have been the way I would automatically move to important parts of the location.
In summary, I'm not filled with glee by it, but it's obviously some quality work.
