Kurt arrived about an hour and a half late, because he wasn't just fashionable, but fashionable and fabulous. Wearing THIS after his (and Audrey's) first choice was met with a shoe-clashing tragic disaster, he pushed his sunglasses up on top of his head and surveyed the party scene.

Average, at best. But of course, he had only just arrived, so that was expected. There was also the fact that he was maybe already slightly drunk. With bottles of alcopop being passed around on the ride over here, Kurt just hadn't been able to resist the pink one. Or the two... or three. Maybe even four. It was at least a number he could count on one hand, which he had been using to keep track. Without even thinking, he grabbed a bottle of beer off the refreshment table with one hand and a jello shot with the other. Red jello = Hummel Approval. He downed it easily, already well off the wagon, so why not. Only, he nearly gagged when he realised his second option was common beer and quickly discarded in in favour of another pineapple soda mixed with vodka ( ... )

Kurt wet his lips, tasting the lingering residue of alcohol there. The party was still going on around them, but he seemed to have an odd ringing in his ears the more he drunk. It was a good feeling, though. Everything felt good right now. "At least she wouldn't be short of back rubs," he reasoned.

Or people to get her drinks. Not that the party seemed to be in shortage of that, but a decent Martini would have gone down really well right now. He looked at his hand on Sam's arm, remembering now that it was still there before he glanced up and met Sam's eyes again. "So I've heard."

"Yeah, guess not," which was a definite plus. Draining his drink, he caught sight of Kurt looking at him, and smiled as he settled down his empty glass. "Want some more drinks?"

Kurt nodded and experienced a sensation not unlike his head being detached from his body. It spun a little and he kept his feet planted firmly on the spot they were occupying. He wasn't sure he could trust them to go in the same direction anyway. "Sure... thanks."

He reluctantly released the hold on Sam's arm he had. "Most people would have ditched me by now," he said with a snort of amusement. "Do you want an opening to do so?"

"I promise, I'll be back. No ditching" he smiled and carefully walked on past Kurt, turning his head back to look at him before he took some drinks from the table. Two more of those fruity fluffy things, and he balanced two more shots in his other hand. He had to walk back a lot slower so he didn't spill, a look of concentration on his face.

By this time, Kurt had 100% forgotten about anyone he promised to meet up with at the party. He could be the ultimate snob when he wanted to be, but there was something about Sam keeping him stuck here just a few short paces from the door. That, and the fact he would face plant the carpet if the ground tipped any further under him. It was all just a matter of balancing priorities, and he really wasn't imagining Sam giving him a back rub at all.

In lieu of Sam's arm, he had come to take a hold of the edge of the mantel shelf, but a hint of a smirk appeared on his lips when he saw Sam avoid the beer and go for more soda cocktails and jello shots.

Quinn had spent the majority of the night at Finn's side, dutifully holding his hand or putting her arm around him as he introduced her to various people she had no interest in knowing or retaining the names of. By the time he was ready to go, she had been holding in going to the bathroom for far too long, and, despite a vehement belief in abstaining from such things, had to use another person's bathroom.

She moved through the hallway, past two people all but fornicating on the wall, and pulled her cardigan on just as she spotted him: Kurt Hummel, looking characteristically devious. When Quinn saw his intended target, however, she couldn't stand idly by and watch him attack.

"Put away your bedroom eyes, Hummel, he doesn't play for your team!" Quinn nearly shouted as she approached the boy, her hands in fists at her side. Sam was innocent, as far as she'd determined, and quite a bit like Finn - naive, goofy, easy to get along with - people like him did not belong in the grips of sin.

Ferrari had been speaking with Audrey and a few other people as they came to her when a flash of blonde caught her eye. Blinking, Ferrari looked up from Audrey and around the room until her eyes fell on a few people she hadn't even noticed had shown up. Some blonde boy she didn't know was talking to Tina, and then to some boy that Kurt was speaking to. And yelling at them in that HBIC manner she owned, was Quinn Fabray. So the Head Cheerio had decided to show up to her party, huh? Excusing herself from Audrey, she headed over to where Kurt was drunkenly hanging with Sam. Quinn was facing them, appearing to be very angry.

Hoping to aleviate the problem Ferrari smile and walked up to stand by Quinn. She watched Sam and Kurt with a small smile. "Hey you guys. Enjoying the party?"

Maybe it was because he was drunk, but Kurt had an almost uncontrollable urge to bitch slap both girls that just infiltrated the... whatever the hell it was with Sam. It was a conversation and Sam didn't think he was a gay leper, so that was a whole lot better than most interactions Kurt had lately. He shot both Quinn and Ferrari a glare and rolled his eyes with a huffed sigh, even if it did make the world feel like it was spinning just that little bit more.

He held his hands up. "Careful, Fabray, darling. Don't get too close. The homo germs might rub off on you!" he snapped. "By the way, your butt looks huge in that skirt. That really isn't your colour."

As Sam returned to Kurt's side he grimaced a little at the things being shouted their way. He wasn't gay. Well, that's what he told himself. But he knew his parents wondered about him, and often he did too.

Especially when around Kurt.

"Homo germs?" he asked with obvious amusement, holding out the large fluffy drink for Kurt to take from him first of all, and then the shot so he could hold his own a little more comfortably. "You get that a lot?"

Kurt looked Quinn up and down with disdain. "Only with the plebians of society," he stated with a bite to his tone. He accepted the drink and took a large mouthful to try and brace himself through the attack. Just because it kept happening, didn't mean it hurt any less when he was hit with it.

He stuck his nose in the air and brushed past Quinn pointedly, not evening deigning her with eye contact. "Along with a road map to hell, I need air," he said and stalked in the direction for the door, only managing to stumble and sway a little as he went.

"Hey, Kurt..." he watched him go and after a moment of considering his options, he did what he knew was right and honestly, what he wanted to do; he followed. Knocking back his shot so he had a hand free as he discarded the glass and swallowed - oh lord that didn't even hit his tastebuds - he followed after.

It was a strange feeling as he walked. His vision wasn't quite as clear as he was used to, and one or two of the steps were taken with a moment of hesitation, as he was convinced the floor moved under him.

When the cool air hit him he had to pause, cheeks flushing, drink slightly spilling to the floor at his immediate sway. "Kurt, c'mon, wait. You're not gonna let that ruin your night, right?"

Kurt had made it to the bottom of the stairs to come stop beside a tree in the front yard. His hand was resting agains tthe trunk to keep him upright and he glanced over his shoulder at Sam, more than surprised to find he had followed.

Yet, relieved. He realised part of him expected Sam to stay and side with Quinn. Most would have, even just to score brownie points with the Head Cheerleader, but Sam seemed different. "I'm used to it," he admitted. "her point is valid. I'm generally the only one batting for my team around this place. My point still stands on her butt, though. Even Size Two isn't her friend tonight."

"I'm sure you're not the only one. Maybe the only one brave enough to say it," he moved over towards Kurt then and stood by him, near the tree, shrugging his good shoulder as he looked at the smaller boy. He liked her butt, but he didn't think he should comment on that so much right now.

"You really are brave, you know. To be out and so proud. I know you shouldn't have to be brave but... with what you go through, it can't be easy." A large part as to why Sam kept his own concerns and thoughts to himself. He didn't need to have that kind of thing directed his way. Not when he already had a handful of issues of his own.

Kurt shrugged slightly. "Sometimes it's just easier to insult back when you're being attacked," he replied and then tipped his head back to swallow the new drink in one go. He was too drunk to care about much anymore and he just dropped the cup onto the glass without a second thought.

He turned to Sam, swaying a little as he contemplated him. "All I want is one person to get what it feels like. Just one."

Sam watched Kurt with his drink and his mouth went incredibly dry. Fear, anticipation; he didn't know what it was but he mimicked Kurt and drained his own drink, though he kept his little cup in his hand.

"I think... there are more people that get it, than you think," he replied to Kurt quietly. He didn't want other people hearing him, but it was the most he had ever said about this subject whilst thinking about himself.
