I may have accidentally created a new poetry form today, based on the concept of chiasmus inversus, or the inversion of parallel phrase elements. It was also inspired by a guy I saw sneaking around his neighbor's house ( Read more... )

The best part is that the inversions can be worked into other forms. I'd love to see a villanelle with chiasmus inversus.

Of course, I'd love to complete a decent villanelle with out inversions also.

what's cool is that the meter of the inverted line can be quite different from the original, leading to some unexpected rhythms/emphases.
