So, I read this thing on Tumblr about why a particular blogger over there doesn't like female characters, and she got quite self-righteous about her right to dislike them, and I started to feel all ranty, and this is the result. ( Rantiness part 1 )
I also have a magical library...and I write female characters I sure as hell would like to spend time around, myself.....
The argument put forth by this person reeks to me of an anti-feminist type rant I used to encounter amongst the conservative Christian crowd. They thought they were being creative by advancing such points. Eh, not so much, especially when easily refuted.

Yeah, one of the reasons I found the original essay so rage-inducing, was that I felt like just about every writer I know was being personally insulted.

I sort of grew up among that crowd myself, so, I think I know what you mean. It's like complementarianism trying to disguise itself as more-feminist-than-thou-ism.
(I say "sort of" because my parents were mostly sexually egalitarian in their views, but the churches we went to always had a fair number of more conservative members, and we did go to one church where that was kind of the official position. )
