I think I'm going to find it difficult to read these posts just because the excerpts from Wright are so slimy and gross. "A real heroine does not copulate out of wedlock"? Ick. You said it best yourself: "moral scolds always come across as perverts." The use of "copulate" there makes me want to dunk my brain in bleach. It's practically drenched in precious bodily fluids. Emphasis on the precious. ("Fornicate" probably wouldn't bother me as much, other than the morality being espoused.)

I completely understand. For me, this is the brain bleach -- to take these things and explain what's wrong with them. But then, I already read it. I can't UNread it!

Yeah, when he claimed to be a BTVS fan, I was kinda surprised, but the more he talked about it, the more I thought he must be using "fan" in a strange way that means he hasn't watched most of it, or wasn't paying attention, or something.
