That's a very loaded question! :D

I understand your problem with Lewis. I have a similar problem with HL, even if Denial is strong within me and I can ignore canon after a specific point...I still have not been able to rewatch the series.

What Ifs are your only Hope, I'm afraid. Alternative timelines, choices, decisions. And/or future!fic. Change the future implied by the series' ending into something more to your taste :)

As to being in a fandom of one...yes, that's hard. I think you should keep investing in your fantasies and put them out there, because you never know, some one may come your way who loves them as much as you do :)

But I do understand the lack of communal passion can be a very cold shower :(

Thank you for answering, and for your thoughts. And for the encouragement re. alternatives (and futurefics). Re. posting stories that are my fantasies alone, I'm not sure - too embarrassing both to reveal my own isolated fantasies and to acknowledge that nobody else shares them.

My sympathies about Lewis. I've had my heart broken by many shows. Including Lewis, as it happens, but I managed to stop watching it before it could break my heart more than it already had. (If you don't mind my asking, what are Hathaway's family problems at the end? Did they actually have the gall to marry him off?)

I don't know Rawhide or its fandom, but it's frustrating when the people who share your fandom don't share the way you're interested in it.

I tend to be a fannish butterfly (and I'm lucky enough to have a friend with whom I almost always have fandoms in common), so perhaps this advice is too easy for me to give, but I find that falling in love with new fandoms can do a lot to soothe the pain created by the old ones.

Thank you for making contact! Re. Lewis, yes, I should have stopped watching it too. No, they didn't marry him off - he renewed contact with his father (in a nursing home, suffering from dementia, only very intermittently lucid) and his sister (resentful about having been left alone to care for their father). And basically very lonely, behind his newly-acquired three-piece suits. The last image I found incredibly painful. I am most definitely NOT going to rejoin the community (and get inveigled into arguments about the way the writers developed the characters).

Thanks for the advice re. new fandoms. Am keeping my eyes open. Any suggestions?

Thanks again, and good wishes for 2016, although it started off with the deaths of Alan Rickman (whom I admired) and David Bowie (whom I have loved since the early 1970s).
