Totally off-topic reponse, but would that by any chance be the song that Billy Connolly used as the basis for The Welly Song?

I double-checked on YouTube. The song I had in mind was a lefty song of the 1970s, sung by one Matt McGinn - I also vaguely think there was an even older original, regretting the "Union" of Scotland and England. I listened to the Billy Connolly song and his tune sounded vaguely (vaguely!) similar to McGinn's.
