During the campaign, President Obama committed support to many GLBT civil rights issues.

Yet, there's always a gap between the campaign promises and action. On election night, the new president-elect intentionally included GLBT community in his acceptance speech. Then, on Inauguration Day, whitehouse.gov included a detailed civil rights page.

Lakhdar Boumediene will walk out of Guantanamo after seven years of unlawful imprisonment as an enemy combatant. Today, Judge Richard Leon, of the Federal District Court of D.C., ordered the release of Boumediene and four other men.

Today, on The View, Mike Huckabee, gave a heartfelt interview. He talked with pride and sincerity about how the country had moved beyond so much of the racism he saw in the South as a child. But then, he tried to distinguish between the 1960's civil rights movement and today's GLBT rights movement.
