A short history of Danny Boy

When I was a copykid at News Limited in Sydney in my early twenties, I gained a bit of a reputation as a karaoke singer (which is part of the reason for this little blog). It all came about because I went to a friend's 21st at an Indian restaurant in Oxford Street that had a rather odd karaoke night which run after everyone finished their meals.

Your writing is much like your singing - it never fails to move, inspire and amaze me. Not because it's unexpected, oh no; it's all the more powerful because, just when I think I have a grasp on how good you are, you go one better.

I cannot even imagine the emotional changes and upheavals you and yours have endured these past months, and I'm certainly not about to try. All I can really say is I feel for you, I'm glad to hear you have some measure of peace and perspective, and that soothing a barbarian in turn soothes some of your own pain. I hope it is ever thus.

Thank you, my friend, for your kind words, they mean a lot to me. I've just realised I forgot to reply to your text - I'm very sorry. It has been a crazy time with work, and everything and trying to come to terms with all of this. I'm just glad I managed to find the time to finally write this, even thought it kept me up until 1 in the morning when I had to get up for a 0530 shift the next day!

This one kind of closes the circle on the three posts about my life since I found Dad. Not sure where and when the next one will come from, but at least this series gives a nice record I will be able to show Ronan one day.

Love and best wishes to all your family from all of mine. Take care of yourelves.
