If you can, watch this low-budget comedy. They've only broadcast the first part of the 1st episode of the second series, but it's absolutely brilliant! Though to be honest, I didn't quite enjoy the 1st series as much as I would've expected. Who cares? The new series has started off with a bang. Narration by David Tennant!

I heard the BBC were interested in it...

However there is another Aussie comedy that is being broadcast on BBC4, Lowdown. Am absolutely loving all the episodes I've been able to see. Narration by Geoffrey Rush.

The wiki article has a reference to Twenty Twelve as well.
I remember the newspaper article now.. the BBC claimed they didn't copy the idea for The Games, but one of the writers or producers for The Games had talked to the BBC about the idea for their olympics oly months before... :)
Hadn't heard of Lowdown....? Not sure why, given Rush is in it!

As for Lowdown here's how Wiki describes it: "an award-winning Australian television comedy series set in the world of celebrity journalism". It's probably the first non-soap Aussie show I've ever watched. Unfortunately Rush doesn't appear in it at all, he's just the narrator. It's still good without him.
Do you recommend any other punchy Aussie shows? I tend to like gritty dramas, or thinking comedies.
