More leftist and more neo-conservative at the same time, eh? Interesting. I'm more libertarian, more right, more non-interventionist and more culturally liberal than the average.

Interesting, you're one of 'em traditional right non-interventionists yet culturally liberal. As for being left and neoconservative, it's worth remembering that neoconservatism began in the political left. I'm a liberal who believes in interfering in global affairs, but only with the support and assistance of other countries (ideally through the UN). I'm not keen on unpopular unilateral misadventures.

Yep, I'm more or less your standard classical liberal (libertarian to North Americans, but my understanding is that libertarian means anarchist on this side of the pond, and I'm quite fond of capitalism with no desire to smash it, so I'm clearly not your standard anarchist).

Neoconservatism began on the left? Hmm, haven't heard that... I think most leftists in North America would have a coronary over such an assertion. But it does certainly make sense, as historically the left was more interventionist than the right.

As to party on Saturday - what kind of cake do you like?

It surprised me greatly when I moved here a couple years ago to find almost no mention of libertarianism in the UK and as such it's not surprising that they identify it with anarchism. Though ignorance is no excuse. It may interest you to know that an UK Libertarian Party established themselves just over a year ago. Until just a few minutes ago, I hadn't visited their site or blog in over a year's time so I'm glad to see they've added a bit more meat and what not to their pages. They formed just after I had moved here and i remember feeling all excited about it but then I realised things were moving very slowly. Now I don't really think it's worth supporting them in anyway because there's barely space for a third party in mainstream politics and it's highly unlikely the Libertarians will make significant inroads anywhere, even in grassroots politics. Nevertheless, they are welcome to prove me wrong ( ... )
