This posting ended up somewhat different than what I've initially intended or imagined. :) I wonder if anybody ended up reading it... hehe
I did :)
Your family/village history is very interesting. And I have to commend your father for his contribution to build the school. That is very impressive. And I agree that the world (not just India, but everywhere) would be a much better place if people were inclined to give back to the community in the same way that your father has done.

I also hope to do my bit for my ancestral roots but also for India in the bigger picture and the world at large during the course of my lifetime. How or what I don't know yet but I know that much so far... Let's see how life takes its own course. :)
:) Well, you want to do something... that's what's important. Nothing says you have to have the entire world and goals sorted out by the time you're in college... But looking for ways to improve things is a big part of it :)
good luck on the driving test! i should've taken it last summer, but was too lazy. at least then i was quite sure i would've passed. this time around, i'll be in muscat for a handful of days (not enough time to get used to the roads and take the test). meh.
have fun in india. i'm going to be camping out in madras pretty much all through (because good lord i miss that city and some people in that city muchly)- maybe i'll randomly run into you somewhere!
i read your post =D good luck on the driving test! Thanx! I seriously hope I pass it this time, i mean 3rd time lucky, come on! ;) You should've done your test that time indeed. They don't pass people easily. It's either you get thru the first time or you go thru the full rigor. Bastards...
As for Chennai, I'll be there for about a week @ the end of June so if you're around we should meet up @ Spencer's or something and chug some cafe. Will you be there that time?
Not really, personally. I've read descriptions about the Bengali Marwaris though. The most famous one I can think of right now is Jagmohan Dalmiya. Word has it he speaks Marwari with a Bengali accent. :) I believe there's a sizeable crowd of Marwari Industrialists living in Kolkata.
