Record Snowfall in Montreal

Less than a week after leaving Montreal, the city experienced one of its heaviest snowfalls ever! 41cm fell on Friday, December 16 ... 3cm more than what fell on 27 December, 1969 but 2.2cm less than the record of 43.2cm on 4 March, 1971. More than 200 flights were cancelled - six days earlier and it would've affected me too!

Global warming!

Global warming arguably causes such extreme weather conditions.

Long story short, global warming would lead to Europe freezing over because of changes to Gulf Stream winds. The concept is more complicated than just the entire world heating up.

yeah, one of the first things our program coordinator showed us was maps of the area around the north and south poles, and superimposed the two on top of each other to show us exactly where kiruna was. the corresponding point on the southern hemisphere was well into antarctica. this has nothing to do with global warming though.

it's never supposed to snow in wuerzburg until well into the winter, and there's already been enough snow to make me count down the days until i leave for home. and bush is still doing nothing about the kyoto treaty. i feel bad for collecting all those signatures on recycled paper, and making folks fill out all those postcards to senators because that was such a waste of money, paper and energy.

I'm wicked lucky that my bus home was at 11:45 on Friday, otherwise it might not have left! We had to dig my roomate's car out to get me to the metro and still had to walk partway there because the Sherbrooke/Atwater intersection was so backed up. Thank God I wasn't flying!
