Rock the vote

A bloke at work came up with this alternative voting system while driving home from Ikea the other night (hey, it's as good a place to have ideas as any). I'd be interested to know what people think? It goes like this:

So under this system the BNP could decide to spend their wad on having the MP for my area even though they'd only received a few hundred votes?
Seems to give the politicians even more room to fuck about and less of a say to the electorate.
As you say, fun idea but evil.

They'd have to select Griffin (or whoever they wanted elected most) as the candidate for your area before the election. Which means that someone else could bid higher and they'd have wasted their votes. I've got to hand it to the guy, this system allows for scary amounts of Nashian paranoia...
