Men fall into about three broad strokes... first, you have the Men of the West, the Edain/Dunedain. They've learned about the Valar from the elves - just over 5500 years ago, they even fought alongside Eonwë, Herald of Manwë, and other Maiar when the hosts of Aman sailed to Middle-Earth to overthrow Morgoth and save the Edain and the Eldar from utter annihilation. Elros Tar-Minyatur, first King of Numenor, was the great-grandson of Queen Melian of Doriath, herself a Maia. So they follow the elvish model: veneration and honor, not worship. At least, the ones who don't fall into corruption. They tend to shift in to Category 3 ( ... )
