Oh no worries, it totally wasn't just you at all. I just added tags to like...seven entries and that was when I realized that I should probably let people know/remind everyone that they can make them, and do a general remind of the tagging guidelines anyway while I was at it.
Seriously, it's not at all a big deal! You have no reason to apologize! <3
Oh no, there wasn't really a tipping point. It was literally that I tagged seven entries and said "hey if this is this common, then people need a reminder." :) Reminders are good things every once in a while.
Thanks for posting and participating in the community, btw! It's nice to see your name pop up! <3
No worries. :D Like I said, I just saw a bunch of posts in a row were missing the tags so I went "hm I should probably remind people of our policy/that they can make them themselves."
We've all got a lot going on, so don't even sweat it. <3
Some of us don't prefer to warn for character death (like, you know, the entire fiction world that isn't fanfic: movies, profic, operas, plays, everything else), and basically only put it in whiteout if relevant because we get slammed by those who are upset by it if we don't. Putting it in a tag is inherently a spoiler, and I would be annoyed by it as a reader, so requiring that as a tag for something usually warned for is problematic. Also, mpreg and bdsm are content, but not necessarily warnings; equating BDSM with rape says to people that enjoy BDSM (like, in meatspace, as a part of their sex lives) that their unusual preference is wrong because it is the same kind of thing as rape. Some comms deal with this by using the more neutral term "content" rather than "warning."
IJS.
Aside from that: warning/content alert that probably should be a required one: underage, since in some parts of the world, clicking on the post long enough to even realize there is underage smut can be construed as illegal looking at child porn. High

Well as I said, we ask that you warn for it. It's not required like the three tags I specifically listed are. I'm not demanding anything here, I'm simply saying it'd be nice if you did this. That's all.
I'm not equating BDSM to rape, and I honestly am really upset that you seem to think I am. I was simply using it as an example, along with non-con and dub-con, of things that are commonly warned for. I see people warn for it all the time, actually, so that's what I'm basing this off of. I am unsure as to how you got me conflating it with rape out of my post, but if I did inadvertently give that impression that's not my intent at all

You personally may not think they are similar or the same, but there's still a parallel being set up, and you're stating they are both things that require a warning. This isn't just my opinion; this is an issue I have seen turn into wanktastica in a number of fandoms in the last decade, and I am aware that there are people for whom BDSM is a way of life for whom this common warning is a constant irritant and a reason they feel unwelcome in various communities, which, they deal with that in meatspace, you know?
I'm just generally not a fan of the culture of warning for character death, and I think a lot of folks compromise by using witeout and not tagging it, so asking people to, eh, not my favorite, is all.
Asking people to tag with warnings, including character death, has been the policy since this community's inception. It's in the userinfo.
I did ask for feedback about the user info and policies when I first made the community, so I'm genuinely curious as to why this is being brought up almost four months after the fact. If you joined later, then I apologize as I can't unfortunately keep a running tally of who joined this community when, but again, it's in the user info.
I admit I'm also confused as to why you're arguing the point about character death still after I just said that it's not required, simply considered to be a nice thing to do. I'm not asking you to change the way you post, so I'm perplexed as to why you feel the need to continue arguing about it.
