I have no interest in their ship, so I don't go looking for their stuff to sabotage or anything. I think you'd have to feel threatened to do that, and I think based on the evidence Sparky people have nothing to feel threatened about.
Then again, it's funny how the McKay/Weir and the Shep/Weir people can get along, but there's no middle ground with the Shep/Weir and Shep/Teyla types, or the Shep/Teyla and Ronon/Teyla types... Maybe the McKay/Weir people are right when they call themselves the 'easygoing' ship. I never used to have trouble hanging in there, even with a Sparky sig.
The McKay/Weirs are very easygoing, I sometimes just pop in their thread to say hello. And Purpleyin and Toaster are on my flists. I just like talking to as many people as I can imagine, which is why I roam here there and everywhere.
I love it in there. At least I used to. Haven't been in for ages, because I just... kind of took a really long work-imposed break from GW. But yeah, I love Toaster's name! Toaster has the best name on the whole board! It cracks me up!
The McWeir people have a sense of humour, which is sadly lacking with some shippers/thunkers/slashers. They're definitely more easygoing than the rest. Never had an issue with them. And since I love Weir and McKay (although not together), it was actually fund to see what they had to say.

Why thank you!! :)

Most are serious about the idea of M/W, they write fanfic and everything, but they don't take it too seriously and they don't really get involved in the shipping brawls. I don't know why that is - whether it's because of the ship itself and the people that are drawn to it, that the ship hasn't called much attention to itself in canon so there's less of a feeling of investment, or because we have such a small sample number that we haven't picked up any fanatics. Smaller numbers tend to mean fewer shippy posts and fic and graphics, but it also tends to mean

True. And I remember posting in there with a Shep/Weir sig, and never getting nastiness because of it. If I did that in the Sheyla thread, I'd be copping red left, right and centre, no matter what my post said
( ... )
I don't mind the McKay/Weir folks because in a way I could accept McWeir. Its an odd pairing, but what the heck, maybe they would be good for each other.
The whole Shep/Weir thing has really cooled off for me, mainly because Sheppard has turned into such a jerk. But while everyone complains about Sheylas seeing ship everywhere, the Sparkys do the same thing. Just because two people stand next to each other doesn't mean they are engaged in hawt sex.
Well me too, although if I read really good S/W fanfic I do tend to enjoy it. I always want to have fun, and if that stops then I stop doing whatever... and it's stopped being fun. I'd much rather play around with pairings of characters to see what comes up. And have a laugh.
I tried to explain once that they're standing in each other's space to fit in an extreme close up or whatever. Ummm. Nobody wanted to hear about it. But as someone who knows a little bit about tv/film production, that's what they're doing. Sometimes you have to virtually stand on top of each other to get the shot right. There's no such thing as personal space.
I still love Shep/Weir. I really can't see me liking any other pairing. Maybe I could put up with McKay/Weir, but I think he's a little too snarky to her. (not that I don't love his snarkiness! He kills me!!)
