Knock Down Power

So on gun forums someone always bring up knock down power and thinks that a bullet can knock a target off its feet and/or send the target flying; you know Hollywood style. Well a quick consultation with Newton's third law of physics (or Mythbusters for that matter) and we basically see that if the bullet send a target flying off its feet then it ( Read more... )

Maybe if you can spook the animal without having it bolt, its heart rate would increase, thus increasing the chance of hitting it during systolic blood flow.

Could be wrong, though.

I think that might increase you chance but a spooked animal that is hopped up on adrenalin often taints the meat slightly. You can still eat it but it does make it taste gamier. Not to mention a spooked often becomes a fast moving target.

Neither did I. But once you read it it seems to make a lot of sense. To get the light out effect you have to effect the central nervous system one way or another.
