Welcome to My Workend

I have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week off, so I've already worked through a fairly significant portion of my week.  The way I look at it, today and tomorrow are just a workend, which is like some sort of opposite-world version of a weekend.  (As it turns out, these sorts of observations-and I'm full of them today-tend to annoy co- ( Read more... )

It's your responsibility to remind people that going to work with flu-symptoms doesn't make you a trooper, it makes you an asshole.

It turns out I'm a hypocrite, but just in theory: I felt a little sick Tuesday morning, but I had something I absolutely couldn't miss at work, so I went in anyway. It turns out I was just a little dried out in the face-region due to sleeping in front of a box fan, but, still, it's a matter of principle.

By my very own standard, I'm an asshole. :-)

A dear friend, who happens to be a complete nitwit, has been posting all over the newspaper blogs and telling anyone in earshot that people should be avoiding public spaces and large gatherings, but that didn't stop him from showing up to Cinco de Mayo celebrations last night or giving full-on hugs and kisses.

Personally, I'm hoping this is the first tidings of the Zombie Apocalypse. "A new strain of infuenza, H1N2, has reportedly exploded over the US-Mexico border. Symptoms include high-grade fever and coughing blood, followed by very cool body temperature, loss of higher brain functions, and a need to feed..."

Mexican zombies would only prove Lou Dobbs right. Do you really want that?

We have nitwits here too, sadly. One of my coworkers had an argument with someone who was claiming that multiple people had already died in the state (and this was way back on the sixth when I first posted this). It all sort of died out this week, though. I love how our collective attention spans shifts so uniformly nowdays.
