Nature: flowers and birds

May 12, 2009 19:04

I love spring for several reasons, but mostly because of all the new growth and new life. I went a little crazy with some of the robin pictures, but it was so much fun. They were playing hide-and-go-seek.

The flower pictures are from around my house and the bird pictures are from my parent's farm that I took on Sunday. Enjoy!

It's a beautiful world. )

I love the pictures my friend, great job.

When I see your farm and the train tracks they bring so many memories of childhood and growing up. Fond ones of my favorite grandparents and uncles and family. The tracks were outside their back door "maybe" 25 acres out. We loved waving to the conductor, now there is just a blinking light.

The flowers are beautiful, my hydrangia is just now coming out. I can't wait to seeit. Please update soon.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.

It's very nostalgic, isn't it? I love the peaceful times. I miss it during the spring, summer, and fall months but definitely not winter. eek.

Yes it is.

I am like you, did not miss during winter months, it was sad, barren and vacant. Dead mostly since it was a "planting" farm and not a "live farm" with animals. Nothing stirred and you waited and counted the days till you saw "green".

Running through the fields, playing hide and seek and watching the crops grow.

Things I did not like
1. picking cotton
2. picking Green Beans, my uncle told us the first time, we were going out for a day of fun in the sun. THAT WAS NOT IT.
3. Picking Strawberries

My grandpa's had cattle but we are now 100% crops.

I never picked cotton, but green beans & berries. Yum. I didn't mind those. I hated to dig potatoes and pick & pod peas. blah.

There are robins and squirrels in our yard, especially since we toss peanuts and bread scraps out the back door. It's a sliding glass door -- the whole back 'wall' of the dining room is two floor-to-ceiling glass windows, with the door between -- so the cats hang out there, and watch the wildlife. Because it's a first-floor window/door, it has the wrought-iron safety bars. The squirrels use this as a jungle gym.

It drives. The cats. BANANAS!

But like Guy Fieri sez on Food Network, bananas is good. Right? Right.

(Mental note to check the tulips out next to the halfwall by the front door. Lilacs should be along soon, yes?)

I don't have many squirrels but I had to brake hard to miss one this morning on the road. Oh yeah, Lilly would chatter at the birds like mad.

Yep, a lot of lilacs in my area have bloomed but my little lilac bush is a late bloomer so she should be blooming by the end of the month. I must keep an eye on it. Yay!
