Edward worried about his only daughter. She was so headstrong and passionate about her causes and headstrong. He knocked on her door.
"Yes, Father?"
"Marian, I think I'll turn in for the night," he started, then stopped and stared. "Are you doing needlework?"
"Yes, Father. I just thought I'd see if I remembered my stitches. I've gotten a bit rusty."
Edward smiled, comforted by the fact that he had discovered his daughter doing something sensible for a change. "How is it coming?"
Marian held up the cloth and Edward complimented her handiwork. "It's lovely. It looks familiar."
"It's an area just outside of Clun."
"Bit of an unusual subject to embroider," Edward commented.
"Yes, well... a girl can only stitch so many birds and flowers..."
"Quite right," Edward concurred. "Is there anything you need before I retire?"
"No. I'm fine. Goodnight," Marian replied warmly.
Edward shut the door behind him and Marian turned back to embroidering her village landscape or more specifically, her map showing the location of the Nightwatchman's next food and medicine drop. Marian could not stop herself from smiling as she stitched in earnest. She had finally found a suitable use for the feminine arts!
