sparky77 inspired me to actually post something. I think about posting every day, but somehow it never happens. This is easing back into the LJ waters ( Read more... )

Oh, I get it. I started this meme over six months ago; I found the saved draft around 4AM this morning when I couldn't sleep and finally finished the damn thing. You do so much better than I do at posting to LJ and even at FB. I can't even get it together enough to comment most of the time. I'm working on that, though.

Oh my...The Road is one of my favorites! It pretty much replaced The World According To Garp, which was my favorite, for years. I loved the Trixie Belden books, too...spent a lot of my childhood immersed in them. There was this book called Krik-Krak which I read in my 30's that I absolutely LOVED...and went back and tried to read it, again, in my 40's...and just couldn't get into it. It kind of weirded me out, but I guess sometimes books are just timely for where we are in our lives. Oh GAWD...and Discworld...I need to go back and re-visit those...that man was brilliant!

Anyway, it's good to see you back in these here parts...I've been fiddling around with it, again, for a while...but haven't fully committed. :)

Another Trixie fan! And Discworld!! How cool is that?

I was catching up with your LJ, and you've been busy as hell, haven't you? Most of it sounds pretty good, although that knee stuff sucks. Has no mentioned a knee replacement? I was supposed to have had my left one done over 15 years ago, but that didn't happen. Now it's just a mess. I was offered cortisone shots, but I declined. Now I'm kind of glad that I did after reading about your experience. Hopefully the cortisone has taken effect now for you.

Hey Mays!

My left knee is still a hot mess, and now it had a new and different, breath-stealing pain. I guess I'll call the doc, tomorrow to inquire about it.

Oh, and yeah, they've wanted to do replacements on both of them since I was 35...16 years ago. I'm still balking. I'd like to get grad school finished, and then tackle that little project. I could take a couple of quarters off and whatnot, but I just want to get this degree and get it over with. I wish I could say that it's being enjoyable...but I dunno...it's kind of just a drag.

You gonna come back to LJ, too? :)

Such great books! I love how many of them were young adult novels - or at least things that you read as child or teen. Literature is so influential in our lives, but, I think, especially so when we are younger. Books mean a lot to me, but perhaps even more so when I was young.

Oh, and in my world, too, Trixie Belden was WAY better that Nancy Drew.

Another Trixie fan! We are legion, apparently :) I was an avid reader from an early age. I even convinced the librarian at the main library to upgrade my status so I could borrow books from the grown-up section instead of the children's. I felt like I'd been given the keys to the kingdom :)

For a few seconds there, I thought you said that you adored Lord of the Flies... My utter confusion is what made me go back and read that line again. :D
