Hyacinths! I think. Most pictures show them fully open, but that's probably them. (I checked wikipedia's list of spring flowers. I'm horrible with flower names.)

I'm glad you have your camera back. I love your pictures. :)

Nope, they're not hyacinths; they grow on a stalk and these are stemmed. I'm terrible with flower names, too. They need to be really iconic for me to get them: rose, lily, tulip, daffodil, peony, gladiola, hyacinth. That's about it. I have some nature guides, but those are geared toward wild-growing flowers and shrubs, so no help. But thanks for trying :)

The funny thing is that I love flowers. I love looking at other people's gardens, and I really loved it when we had gardens of our own. (Dar is a wicked good gardener.) I was one of those people who didn't know that you could plant a bulb in the wrong direction. There's a right direction? Why, yes, there is :)

You're right and I was wrong! I just check with our resident flower expert, and Dar says they are grape hyacinths which are a variant of the cluster hyacinths. Yay on you!

Now I'm confused because they don't look like grape hyacinths to me. :(

We both fail. :D

1. Last week it was so hot that I couldn't sleep and this morning the heat kicked on. So weird.

3. I think emusic.com has opera. It's been a while since I was a member, so I'm not sure how much they have, but they do have the big names. That doesn't help with iTunes, though...

9. I don't hate Lori, but I find her wildly inconsistent. I have that issue with a lot of the women on the show, actually, like the writers just say, "And then whichever woman is in the room will react THIS WAY!" regardless of who it is.

11. Those blue flowers are lovely! I keep thinking I need to find a flower ID site to help me because I have tons of pictures of flowers that I can't label correctly. :)

1. So it did cool down for you guys? Yay? It went below freezing last night for the first time in many weeks, and we actually had a brief snow flurry ( ... )

1. Yes! I think it was in the high 20s early this morning and now it's low 40s and very very windy. So much wind lately!

3. If I look into my Far Back memory, I recall shopping at some actual record stores. I honestly can't remember the last time I did that.

9. I'm not sure why they would intentionally write an inconsistent character, but that does track with her reaction to Shane's death. I love Andrea and Carol and Maggie, too, when the things she's saying make sense from one scene to the next. And I'm beyond stoked to see what Michonne is like.

11. Yay flowers! You inspired me to pick up my camera today. It's been gathering dust lately and I want to change that.

I can understand writing an inconsistent character on purpose...but they didn't do it very well. As it is, it just seems like not all the writers are on the same page or that they just can't keep track of what they're doing with her. And given that a lot of the characters are uneven...it looks bad.

If they wanted Lori to be inconsistent, they should have played up the inconsistency in a single episode, and ideally had someone call her on it at least a bit. As it is, there's no way to tell they're doing it on purpose.

Thanks, Mal. It's a drag, to put it mildly. Are your days any better this week? I hope so; you've been sounding so stressed!

I am, actually. But only so much you can take on before the don't-give-shit-kicks in and it's all mellow

They weren't bad, but a lot of people I've read said they were disappointed that it wasn't as intense as they thought it would be. I don't know how they changed the ending - maybe a different emphasis? - but that got several mentions. Thought it short-changed the story. And the biggest complaint was the shaky cam. I should say that all of these were written by adults. I wonder if the young teens, especially, just loved everything about it. Dar wants to see it (surprise!), but we'll probably wait for the crowds to die down.

I still haven't started it :)

From summer temps back to a more "normal" March...it's wild!

I posted some pictures for you to compare with yours:
