What was up with the woman from Tennessee blathering on about the evils of a single payer system? Neither the House nor Senate bills HAVE a single payer system. That's my problem with both of them! (Well, and the proposed "pay extra if you want abortion insurance" coverage because of course women _plan_ pregnancies that are by definition unplanned/unwanted or causing health risks, but whatever.)
She was talking about the evils of a single payer system and about how Tennessee had experienced these evils, which would have been an excellent critique IF either the House or Senate plan contained a single payer system. As it is, telling us how awful a single payer plan is going to be, when only a very few members of Congress support it, mostly because it has very very little chance of passing, and about the evils of government takeover in two plans that are allowing health insurance companies to continue on WITHOUT getting taken over...Sorry. Disgruntled former CIGNA person here.

I found a link to what Blackburn was yammering about. I didn't read it all, but I think that she's comparing apples and oranges.
