lol...Yeah. I remember watching all of that stuff as well as Dragnet and Get Smart with my father and Murphy Brown and Murder, She Wrote with my mother. ^_^
I didn't know Square One was still on when you were a kid :) 3-2-1 contact gone by then? That was a great PBS science show. It had a mystery series, "The Bloodhound Gang" at the end of each show. I used to stay home to watch TV sometimes because I felt like it was a better education, and more enjoyable. I don't think I suffered because of it. Where have all the good shows gone?
The other thing I really miss is black people on TV. Seriously. When I was a kid, there was Gimme a Break, Different Strokes, 227, Amen, The Cosby Show, A Different World, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Sanford & Son, What's Happening (in reruns), etc., etc. Now they're all on a different TV network, and that really irks me. Those were great shows, and for someone who lived in a largely white neighborhood, the closest thing to "exposure" to black families that I had (as unrealistic as some of them were, they were really no more unrealistic than, say, Family Ties). It's sad that they're all gone from mainstream TV now.
Oh, the PBS stuff was great. I remember 3-2-1 Contact.
As for the black shows, I liked all except A Different World and 227. What's Happening had its good and bad for me. I completely loved Amen, Fresh Prince, and Family Matters.
Take out Nickelodean (we had (and still have) no cable), Square One (I found it boring), and Promised Land (didn't know it existed until now), add in Smurfs, Thundercats, the original Power Rangers, and Star Trek, and you have my childhood TV watching. I didn't get to The Simpsons until late Middle School.

Haha,I have an easy way to make people feel guilty about watching reality TV. I just tell them they're putting people like me out of jobs.
