trainwreck convo on feministing, awesome convo on ontd_feminism

So I used to read feministing and the feministing community blog posts religiously. I loved them. But this one is just full of fail. I couldn't put my finger on why, although I put it up here and all the comments shed some light on why that feministing community post rubbed me the wrong way. I don't get why people want to defend the OP so badly

You also shouldn't feel the need to run a discussion off to a group that will validate your own opinions just because a lot of people someplace else happen to disagree with you.Why? I read it and re-read it and something didn't sit right and I couldn't figure out what it was and felt tremendously guilty for not feeling a rush of sympathy for the OP. So I linked to it on ontd_feminism to get a better handle on why I hated it. After reading the comments, I did in fact, get a better handle on why I hated it. Many of them were incredibly insightful

I'll concede that I was unnecessarily snarky. I could and should have made my point without resorting to mockery of the OP. It was wrong of me to be mean about. I was unnecessarily vicious, and I accept that I should not have been.
(The other thread is quite short, only three comments, lol)
