Wow. Greg's story sounds an uncanny lot like Tijn's, apart from the reason behind it of course.

I so hope we're going to make it too!

Yep, when you were saying what happened to you, that brought back memories of nursing Greg. I'm sure you'll be fine, you're doing so great already!

Great timing... I just applied to that community. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well with BFing, but we'll wait for baby and see. Thanks for sharing that. :)

Yep, you just have to wait and see. Even experienced moms sometimes run into snags with a baby who doesn't do it naturally.

they require it to be a mentor on adopt-a-mom so that's why I wrote it out. I didn't really feel a need to do it myself since I remember it all. ;-)

I had a similar start with Everett. Owen was born and latched on within 10 minutes and didn't let go for 3 hours. When Everett was born he just sort of licked and rooted but didn't seem to latch right. He had insane tongue thrust and would push the nipple out when he'd try to suck. Then he'd try to grab it back with his lips and slurp it back in. By the 2nd day he was hungry and unhappy, I was engorged and had big, scabby, painful blisters on my nipples. Thank goodness for lansinoh and a lot of very helpful supportive online friends. I did finger training and worked with his latch and by the time my milk really came in and he got good 'feedback' for the right suck, he figured it out. Oh man, if he kept up with those blisters, we wouldn't have made it more than a week!
