I'm glad to read such a good review of this book. I'll definitely be adding it to my Christmas list now :) My only concern was that it would be a bit 'dumbed down' for the younger audience, but if this isn't so, then excellent!
It's definitely written to suit a younger audience, but in the right way. I agree that it's really annoying when good writers get overly simplistic and/or condescending just because they're writing for children or teenagers.
