Winter sports weekend

 I took elder child cross country skiing yesterday (first time for both of us), and ice skating today (first time for him).  Both trips featured half an hour of hating it, and swearing it was no fun at all, followed by about five minutes of starting to get it. and another hour and a half moving from "I see why people like this" to "This is fun! where did you ski and did they rent equipment?

It was the Great Brook Ski Touring Center in Carlisle, and yes, they rent equipment. I'd like to go again some weekend when the weather is decent; should I let you know if we're planning on going?

I'll have to try to remember to look for those. I see people xc skiing around the Wellesley campus (and affiliated golf course); it's always looked like a neat thing to be able to casually do in the middle of the day. I may ask you for advice in late winter.
