this strip mall in Sacramento sucks far worse. This is not exactly the place to decompress from the playa, that's for sure.
I guess when the culture shock is this severe, it must've been a good year on the playa!
Now only a few more hours til we're home. Sigh. -
Burning Pussy!
This last weekend was the first reDUNEion camping trip to the Oceano Dunes. This event is meant to capture the spirit of folks camping on the beach burning a giant junkmail effigy now that Junkmailman is no more.

No one got even close on the guess for the cost: 1L of beer and 1/2L of Vodka came to $59. Fucking government monopolies!

Island Day 8
I woke up as rested as I could be, given the previous night's aborted party events. Once again the sky looked quite ominous, but the weather here changes every 5 minutes, so I was not worried. I had breakfast and sat in the lobby waiting to be picked up.

I'm full. Finally fed after running around all day. Then some mid-day "snacks" in the room. Then soak for two hours. And then the HUNGER. I'm too cheap to have dinner in Island, so its supermarket food with hotel room cooking as the main course this evening.

Island Day 7
Turns out the web site where I ordered a reservation for the Hengill Geothermal hike was severely retarded. It didn't bother stating which days the hikes happen, and it gladly took my money and made a reservation for me. But no one ever showed up to pick me up for the hike. Island day 6
Today I took the "Golden Circle" Bus tour. It involved getting onto a bus and being driven around for 7 hours. We saw an implosion crater, two killers waterfalls, a geyser, and their sacred national park, Þingvellir. Island Day 5
After a few action packed days, I decided to use the expensive net connection to do catch up and do more research about hiking trips in Island. I ended up taking one short (2 hour!) walk to the old down where I got a hot dog and information on hiking trips.
