Yeah, I think I need to slide in here and leave another comment along the roadside. Apart from the fact that it's ripping my heart out, this story is redolent of a theme I keep running into more and more this season both in the show and in fiction (done exceptionally well in the case of this story) and that is moral ambiguity. It makes me happy, on the one hand, because it reflects a level of sophistication of concept that you don't get a lot of in television these days (or ever?). It also gives me a lot to think about. Good and evil is much more interesting in shades of grey, maybe more comfortable in black and white. The demons sometimes lie and sometimes tell the truth, but even when they are truthful, their truths are colored with their own agendas. Possibly their agendas are more comprehensible to us humans than those of the 'other side.'
