[Slowly, softly, light poured into the master bedroom.  Vash's eyes opened.  He did not otherwise move.  The events prior had drained most of his spirit for much anything.]

Augusta.  I destroyed the entire city, didn't I?...

[Vash bolted up right suddenly.  He was on a bed, in a room,

[Sophie is busy outside of the flower shop, tending to some of the flowers displayed outside when she heard the strangers call. She looked over at him curiously.]

You might try the diner.

[Vash turned towards the first responder, a rather large smile coming across his face as he gazed upon the young woman.]

Ah! The diner! Thank you!

[Vash immediately rushes over to her, taking her hands into his.]

Beautiful flower girl, you are my savior. It has been a long while since I have had a good meal.

[Sophie looks taken aback at Vash's sudden response. She carefully and politely removes her hands from him, both because he was a stranger and they had a good amount of potting soil on them.]

I'm happy to help. Are you new to Mayfield?

[Vash internally sighs at the rejection of hands. Though he is undaunted for the moment. He laughs to Sophie's question.]

Ahah, you could say that. I am. I'm a drifter of sorts and sort of...ended up here. There's many questions I have about this place. And the most pressing one is this!

Tell me, what's your name?

[That morning Mokuren had received a curious note from the Lady's Charity Association, which she had never actually gone to and which she hadn't known existed. Apparently Mrs. The Stampede's husband had lost his job (really? she'd never heard of anyone getting fired in Mayfield before) and it would be a 'swell idea' to bring some baked goods to 313 Miller Street as consolation.

It wasn't not as though she had anything else to do after work, however, and she was curious. So she dropped by bakery to get some cake and was on her way to Miller Street when Vash himself accosted her.]

Oh, I just came from there! It's just down the street!

[If nothing else, the clientele was agreeable it seemed to Vash. He immediately strode up to the woman, putting on his best smile.]

Is that so now? I'm quite grateful, especially to a lovely woman such as yourself. On errands for the house? Can I help you carry anything?

[istheatmosphere]

[Oh, Mokuren knows a man who's all talk when she sees one.]

Oh, no, otherwise I would have baked my own cake. This is a gift... Although I'm not exactly sure to whom.

I would appreciate the help, though. Miller street is quite far from here.

[Oblivious, or at least pretending so, Vash is already carrying whatever Mokuren may have indicated.]

A gift for someone you don't know? Truly, you are a most thoughtful individual! It's quite convenient you see, I happen to be living on that particular street.

[Just after school gets out he's downtown, doing various errands, picking up supplies for his latest project and so on. Suddenly this guy just starts yelling right next to him. Hiccup puts a hand over his ear, a pained expression on his face. He'd put both hands over his ears but that would require dropping the bag, and he's got nails in there. Not gonna do that.]

Whoa! Hey, no need to yell, we can hear you just fine. Sheesh.

[Vash turns to see the young fellow suddenly at his side, scratching his head.]

Er, I didn't see you there. Sorry.

[Vash grins stupidly, leaning over with his hands on his hips.]

But while you're here, don't suppose you could answer my question?

Well there's Achewood Bakery, over there... [He points down the street toward a small building along the row,] or I guess the General Store, right there. [He points at a building much closer. And shrugs.]

New around here?

You could say that. I kind of woke up and found myself in these strange clothes. Been trying to figure things out since I got here. It's a little creepy, you know?

[Sorry, can't hear you. Minato's taken the opportunity to sit on a random bench and sleep. If Vash didn't know any better, he'd think the boy was dead or something.]

[Putting his hand to his chin, Vash scrunched his face. It wasn't really like him to be bothering people, espeically when they were taking a rest. Still though...

Vash gently poked the fellow's shoulder.]

Psst. Hey. You okay?

[doudemoe]

Hnnn.

[After some prodding, his eyes barely open up.]

[Vash grins]

Whew, you're alive. That's a start!

...know of any good eating places 'round here?

[Zegram blinked his good eye as Vash's cheerful voice caught his attention. Seriously? Seriously? This guy was looking for a bakery and not a bar?]

Just seems kinda specific. 'fraid I can't help ya, pal. I've only hit the bar since I got here. Won't be surprised if you need to do the same before long. This place is a nuthouse.

[Vash grins, pondering]

A bar you say? Well I wouldn't be opposed to that at all good sir.

You're new as well? I seem to have "woke up" this morning.
