I've been contacting my friends from Japan. I've offered sending daily necessities to them, but not a lot of my friends were directly affected, so instead they told me they could use cheerful news in this dark and gloomy hour

Dear people of Japan,

I was fortunate to spend 2 years in Misawa, Japan in 1992-1994. What a wonderful experience! I was so impressed and inspired by your culture, your honesty and integrity, and most of all, your willingness to offer your hand in friendship. I have been thinking of your country and all of you constantly since the recent earthquake and tsunami and nuclear plant troubles. You are in my thoughts and prayers every day. Be strong and brave, and know that you are in our hearts. With love from Michigan, USA.
