There can't be a past without a present, and there can't be a present without a future. You've visited Christmas from before your time in Mayfield, but those days are long gone. Now it's time to get a taste of the days to come.
Starting tonight at midnight, Mayfield will be visited by a ghost of Christmas Future.
Just as the previous segment of the event aged your characters back, this segment will age them forward. Your characters are ten years older and have spent the time they've "skipped" living right here in good old Mayfield, in all of its... particular charm. This is not, however, the future as it necessarily will be; it is a potential nightmare scenario for your character, a bad end if you will. As far as they know, this is not an event: it is merely the tenth Christmas they've endured in Mayfield. They will not remember the previous segment of the event ever happening, nor will they remember this segment in their past.
For all intents and purposes, it will be as if Mayfield itself has aged ten years: newly joined characters can still be introduced, and will interact with aged characters as normal. The town itself, of course, will not change in the slightest: it is, and always has been, a cheery little town in the 50's.
Given that this event is supposed to leave all of the characters interacting with each other as if nothing has changed from their daily reality, some inter-player plotting is probably going to be necessary! Please do not mention specific in-game events without commenting to this post and asking permission first; for example, no spiraling into a discussion about "that time it rained lollipops for three weeks". Whenever possible, keep things vague: the only important thing is that your character has been stuck in Mayfield, with all its terrible events and happenings, for ten years. How has it affected them? What are they like now? That's up to you.
We encourage players to comment to this post and talk to each other about how character relationships will progress during the timeskip. The laws of Mayfield are still in effect: nobody can die, publically marrying anyone but your Mayfield-assigned spouse earns a brainwashing (secret affairs and unofficial marriages are fine), you're expected to go to work/school, etc. Children who age past 18 will become adults and end up with new families: feel free to plot together to arrange these temporary families, but do not place yourself with anyone else's character without their permission. New arrivals continued to come in this future, and you are free to assume that any characters from your canon came and were subsequently perma-droned at some point in time.
At some point during the timeskip, all characters received one and only one regain. You may go claim your regain at the regain post as you normally would and use it during this part of the event. It will remain even after the event is over. After the event is over, characters will remember what happened and being their future selves; they will not remember the ten years of the timeskip.
There is one thing we can't stress enough: the characters don't realize that this is an event. To them, there is nothing out of the ordinary: it is simply yet another upcoming Christmas in Mayfield... with all the usual dread that comes with it.
As always, comment here with any questions, comments, or concerns. This event will last until midnight, December 25th.
