Stolen from Kat8tcha:

These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users (as of today). As usual, bold what you have read, italicise what you started but couldn't finish, and strike through what you couldn't stand. The numbers after each one are the number of LT users who used the tag of that book.

OMG MAYE. FINISH WUTHERING NOW. (I love that book, you can tell by my layout.) I'd never cried so much over a book until I got my hand on WH. At least, that's my personal preferences, anyway. ^^;

The Catcher in the Rye (46) <--I want this one

Yes, read it! It's kind of disturbing, I couldn't think properly for several days after reading that book. My thoughts kept revolving and combing for something to complain about in everything. XD Memoirs of a Geisha is also somewhat disturbing.

I'd highly recommend American Gods and The Mists of Avalon. Pride and Prejudice too. And I think Jane Eyre is a little overrated. :(

You read The Odyssey? I gave up halfway though the book. Not because the story is uninteresting, I don't think it is, but because of the cryptic language. I still want to finish it sometime, though.

On the other hand, my English and North American Literature courses SUCKED, since the major were for Latin American literature.

Same thing here! (At a High Scool level, I mean.)

I know WH is a must (Heathcliff!!!), guess all the period (Brönte, Austen, etc.) didn't stick with me.
I began Pride and Prejudice but at the half I dropped it. And I had all the time to read it, because I was sick. Maybe I wasn't in the mood, but I liked the movie XD.

The Odyssey was my first book to review at college. I still remember "...la aurora de rosáceos dedos..." It was sunrise, come on!! Yeah, cryptic XD

It's awful how we get so local in cultural studies, ne?
As you can see, I got many early 20th century readings and classics, but about contemporary literature I'm clueless. Even in the mexican context... ^^;;
