You should be really pleased with yourself. It sounds like you pushed through some pretty huge mental barriers and lived to tell the tale. I'm surprised about boot pain, I thought you got those specially fitted.
I was at Hotham last week and suffering from a cold that just won't die. I feel your pain regarding snow, altitude and stuffy sinuses/chest/ears.
I discussed this recently with a friend who had never skiied. My point of view is that skiing is an unnatural skill and all skiiers must learn it. It's a great leveler. Stick with it, cause you know it's pay off.
Ah yes, they are fitted, however, as with any new shoes, they do take about 4 days of skiing to 'break them in' and i think my 3rd day my feet just rebelled - they're not used to actually having foot support. By the last day I had them feeling pretty good, it's all about how tight they are etc. And now that I seemto have got them right, I kind of want to keep going so I get the worth out of them.
