Went to see the movie Ray over the weekend. I highly recommend it. There are parts that are a bit slow, but it's a great story, with fantastic music, and brilliant acting. Jamie Foxx has really come out of nowhere as a FANTASTIC actor. I saw Collateral a while back, him and Tom Cruise, and he was surprisingly amazing in that film too!

It was decent, liked both guys in the leads. I'd have to say, Jamie Foxx is surprising and impressing the hell out of me all of a sudden.

Although it'll be a while before I have a chance to see any movies, this will be at the top of my list. I have more Ray Charles albums than anyone else's, by a wide margin, so it was important to me that they get his story right. They passed the first test when they decided to use Ray's singing voice. I was also pleased to see Taylor hackford as the director, since he's directed two of the best music movies - "Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll" (the Chuck Berry documentary) and "The Idolmaker," a really entertaining look at the Teen Idol scene in the early 1960s.

It'd be amusing if Foxx won an Oscar, if only because I suspect it would deeply piss off both Jim Carrey and Will Smith, for different reasons.

You should see The Last Samurai. surleigh November 9 2004, 18:51:27 UTC
Not because Cruise is good in it, though he is, but because Ken Watanabe completely inhabited his role and was far more intriguing.

When I saw the preview for Ray I realized it was one of those movies you couldn't really make fun of, because my friend said, "Jamie Foxx wants an Oscar, who are we to judge?"

My buddy who can be unflinchingly judgemental.
