You snuck in TWO pieces of good news into one post! Am glad to hear you're doing well and that you had a wonderful time. So are you going to be selfish, or share some photos that you undoubtedly took, hmmmm?
I absolutely LOVE that story about the Guiness Book of records.wwolfeJuly 20 2005, 13:54:38 UTC
How did I never know that?
I'm so happy to hear about your brother, and I'm impressed with your family's method of celebrating the good news. I second the request for pictures.
When I was home in Ohio for the Fourth, I found out that my dad - and therefore I - was named for my ancestor who was the first family member born in America. (His father, who moved from Germany and, along with his brother, got a 750-acre land grant from the Western Reserve, was named Urias! Now THERE'S a name!!)
One of my goals is to take a trip to the little town in Germany where my family comes from. When I do, I hope I have something near the grand time your family had.
I don't have a digital camera, but my mother and brother do. When they e-mail me some copies, I can forward them, but I'm still an HTML idiot and have no clue how to post them. I did, however, take 6 rolls of film.
And definitely just GO to Germany, Bill. Don't put it off too long. I'm so glad we took this opportunity- most likely, my grandfather will never return to Ireland, and this was a once in a lifetime shot for me. See if you can get the rest of your family to go with you!
